If you are a true video game fanatic then you would definitely known about the Master Sword. This sword features in the Legend of Zelda Series. This ancient sword is known to ward off the evils. This sword was crafted by the Ancient sages to protect the Triforce.
The Master Sword was created centuries before its beholder, Link, was born. It became Link’s most beloved weapon. This sword would not allow just anybody to hold it, it could be held only by the one with a pure heart and strong body.
How does it look like?
The Master Sword is a magnificent weapon. It is double-edged and has no fuller. It either has a blue or a purple hilt. The colors defer depending on the game. It has a golden emblem. Its blade is engraved with the Triforce symbol. And there is a yellow gem studded in the middle of the hilt.
The yellow gem is said to be the source of the blade’s power. In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker game, when the player first seeks the sword, the gem in the center of the hilt is gray and small, and the hilt guard is locked upwards. This indicated that the sword needs to acquire power or to be reawakened.
It has the quality of defeating all evil forces and has the power of being immortal, which means that the sword can never be damaged. This is proved when the Temple of Time collapsed, leaving only the Master Sword and the Pedestal of Time, which remained unharmed and stood protected in the Sacred Groove when Link in The Twilight Princess and Link to the Past would find the sword and wield it exactly like the blade’s first master, the Hero of Time.
The Master Sword reappeared throughout The Legend of Zelda Series.
It appeared for the first time in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In that game, the legendary blade rested in the Lost Woods of the northwestern Hyrule on a pedestal with Hylian inscription.
In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the blade rests in the Temple of Time. Here, the sword allows Link to travel through time.
In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the blade rests in the hidden chamber beneath the Hyrule Castle which is situated deep under the waves of the Great Sea. Here, since the blade was under water for a long time, it has lost its power and Link needs to awaken two Ancient Sages to regain its power. In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the blade is still resting in the Temple of Time even after it collapsed.
The Master Sword can be lifted only with a true Hero bloodline. After Link kills the evil with the sword it is put back to rest in the Pedestal of Time awaiting the need to be lifted in the event of another battle against the evil.
